Demon Beep

You know that shrill, metalic chirp a smoke detector makes when the battery is dying? Well something in our house has been making that beep for 6 weeks! We've moved all our belongings and ripped apart everything we can, and have determined that it's coming from the wall. Every 35 seconds! Right outside our bedroom. We've never done work in that section of the house. We can't figure it out and it's driving us crazy. Did some evil contractor have a battle with the previous owner and hide a smoke detector behind the plaster? Aaaaaaarrrrrghhhhhhh! Any ideas?
