January 9 would have been my paternal grandfather's 105th birthday. He was one of the finest, sweetest men who ever lived, and we're so lucky to have had him into his 90s. In his honor, I think I'll go to a Golden Corral, order fried shrimp, and flirt with the waitress.
Baby Leo.
Bebop, Lee, and me in his backyard, with the rope swing just visible in the back.
Carving the turkey, like he did every year. My sister and cousins will take note of the hankerchief peeking out of his back pocket, and know why that makes me smile.
Lee, me and Bebop in North Carolina.
Ronkonkoma Fire Department Commissioner and lifetime member. They gave him quite a send off.
Happy Birthday, Bebop! We miss you.
