Found this photo in Abuelo's albums. Who are these kids?? Who would pose the birthday girl with a knife like that? Look how terrrified the infant looks. The clumsy hand-tinting makes it all-the-more surreal. I should sell this to Hallmark for their creepy line.Sunday, July 19, 2009
I really hope we're not related

Aquarium
Instead of a birthday party this year, Lily chose to spend the day with best friend Ellie at the Baltimore Aquarum. The girls have been together in daycare for nearly 5 years, and now have gone their separate ways as they prepare for kindergarten. Both are very sad about it, but swear to remain best friends forever. Well, actually, they swear to get married to each other.
We saw jellyfish!
And look at the reaction when a dolphin swam right by!
We saw jellyfish!
And look at the reaction when a dolphin swam right by!The best part of the day was that there was a Japanese anime convention at the convention center, and all these teenagers were walking around dressed as their favorite Japanese cartoon, e.g.:
Lily and Ellie kept shrieking out things like: "She has pink hair!" "That boy is dressed like a girl!" "Why does he look like that?" "Look at her belly!"
We ended the day with a big ice cream cone and the purchase of friendship necklaces. Who could ask for a better day?

The Family Archivist
Hey family! I started a project to scan and upload old family photos. Take a look at the collection, organized into sets by family branch. So far I've uploaded abot 330 images.
If you are so inclined, I need your help! Please feel free to add comments or tags letting everyone know who is in the photo, when and where it was taken, whatever you know. You need a Flickr account to be able to add information (no account needed to view the photos), but they're free and easy enough to set up.
Thanks for any help. And if you want to add your old photos to the project, let me know.

Thoughts?
I've started a project to scan, organize, and eventually put online as many old family photos as possible. I found this one in one of Abuelo's albums. Anyone know who the child is, and why his family may have chosen to pose him uncomfortably nude with a frightening stuffed bird and rubber turtle? And notice the flower antennae coming out of his head.Monday, July 6, 2009
First Day of Summer School!
No more daycare for Lily! She started summer school today, at the same school she will attend in the fall. She took it in stride, but Mommy and Daddy were a little nervous. She came home wired and happy, so we think she liked it, but we can barely get any information out of her. Except that her favorite part was the donut they gave her for breakfast. Donut? Really? Why not just straight sugar cubes?

Happy 4th of July!
Lily and I started the day down at the Archives, where we have a ceremonial reading of the Declaration of Independence, and all sorts of fun family activities.
